Biography
I graduated in 1988 from London University with a B.Sc Honours degree in Clinical Pathology and MBBS and was subsequently awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth) in 1993.
I have over 20 years experience as an eye specialist having worked in adult / paediatric teaching hospitals in London, Oxford & Toronto before taking up an substantive NHS consultant and Senior Lecturer position in Oxford where I have service, teaching( Head of School of Ophthalmology-2014) and research commitments. A honorary consultant position at hospital for sick children in London in 2014 is the foundation for setting up a national service for surgical management of advanced retinopathy of prematurity.
I have served as section editor for an international journal for eye specialists: Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology. I am also a member of the European Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery, the Amercian Academy of Ophthalmology, and the British Society of Vitreoretinal Surgeons.
I also work for a charity known as ORBIS that coordinates skills transfer activity for eye doctors in developing countries and have thus far been on missions to Bangladesh and Burma.
